Movie Of The Day: "Rise Up"

Yow.

There have been tons of movies about Jamaica, reggae and dancehall in the past. But for some reasons, they always were kind of, let's say, "soft".

I mean, all the movies I could see were kind of "politically correct" or just dealt about this "so fantastic and nice music from the carribbean". They never really dealt with the rough side of Jamaica's music...
It's like european and american filmmakers never woke up from their dream. Most of them still pree reggae as a kind of hippie
music... U get me?

So I always wondered if we'd have the opportunity one day to see a real high budget movie about Kingston's underground hardcore dancehall.

And I still wonder actually... but this new movie named "RISE UP" seems to be a little bit different as it seems to have this slightly underground flavour in it.
This argentinian documentary tells the story of three artists' (Turbulence, Kemoy and ICE) struggle to rise up in the jamaican reggae dancehall industry.

Is it good or not? I don't know. But I have to mention that this movie has lately won several prices in different movie festivals around the globe.

Hope you'll enjoy the trailer. And keep an eye open for its release...
